Last updated: February 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how MyWatchState ("the Extension", "We", "Us", or "Our"), developed by João Pedro, collects, uses, and stores information when you use the Extension, and explains your rights under the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados – LGPD, Law No. 13,709/2018).

1. What Is MyWatchState?

MyWatchState is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that tracks your video watch progress across websites (such as YouTube). It saves where you left off so you can resume playback from any device.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Data

When you register an account, we collect your email address. This is the only personal data you provide directly. Your account is managed through Keycloak, an open-source identity provider.

2.2 Video Progress Data

The Extension automatically records:

This data is synced to our servers approximately every 60 seconds while a video is playing. It is linked to your account and never shared with other users.

2.3 Authentication Tokens

Access and refresh tokens issued after login are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device. They are never transmitted to any party other than our authentication server.

2.4 Extension Settings

Your preferences (such as sync interval and completion threshold) are stored in chrome.storage.sync, which may be synced across your devices by your browser if you are signed into your browser account. We do not have access to this data.

3. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored on servers controlled by Us. We retain your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

You may delete individual video progress entries at any time from within the Extension.

5. Your Rights (LGPD)

Under the LGPD, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit and industry-standard security practices for data at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Third-Party Services

The Extension interacts with video platforms (e.g., YouTube) only to read the current video URL and playback position from the page. We do not access your accounts on those platforms, and no data is sent to them on your behalf.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
